Cameras without a subscription: what still works
Prices and plan details checked on official brand pages on 2026-10-01. They change — confirm before you buy.
“No subscription” usually means one thing: the camera can save video locally — on a microSD card, a hub or a recorder — so you are not forced to pay monthly to see what happened. It rarely means you get everything for free. Smart detection, cloud backup, longer history or easy clip sharing can still require a plan.
We only call a feature “free” when the brand's own page says so. When a key feature needs a plan, we list it under what you still lose.

Before you buy a “no subscription” camera
- Where does the video live? On the device (stolen with it), on a hub inside the house, or in the cloud.
- Is the storage included? A microSD card or hub is an extra one-time cost — add it in the calculator.
- Which alerts do you need? Basic motion alerts are common without a plan; person, package or vehicle detection varies by brand.
